Sunday 7/10/07 away to Portishead Jnrs

The Fry Club Girls were this week away to Portishead Juniors currently fourth in the league table with only one game lost so far this season.

The Fry Club Girls started brightly and took the game very much to Portishead with a couple of early half chances. Chelsie was changed after around 10minutes for Hayley at right back. Portishead slowly grew in confidence and but for a very brave save from Rikki Lee in the Fry Club goal they would have gone ahead.

The first half slowly settled into a very even, though it has to be said dull affair.

Portishead broke the deadlock just before half time to put themselves in one goal to nil.

The Portishead Girls came out a lot slicker and in control at the start of the second half. With the Fry's Girls looking a little flat Chelsie was put back on for Ashlea on the left wing.

Portishead struck again and were now in 2-0. Georgia was then changed for Steph "G" on the right wing.

The Fry Club Girls were still very much in this very even, yet sadly dull and flat game, and just needed a spark to bring them back to life.

This spark came in the form of Steph "G" who returned to the right wing as Georgia moved into the centre of midfield and Sophie was changed for Steph "C".

Steph "G" charged off down the right, cut in and shot low and hard to give the Portishead keeper no chance putting the score to 2-1 and bringing the Fry Club Girls within touch of at least a point.

Frys rallied for a short while and were on top of the game but just couldn't find another goal in this crucial period of the game. Steph "C" was swapped back around for Sophie in the centre of the Fry's midfield.

The final whistle blew and the final score was 2-1 to Portishead Juniors.

Player of the match for this game was Steph "G", for her work effort in going forward and trying to open up the Portishead defence.

Mentioned in dispatches for this game are Rikki Lee for a very brave and valiant display of goal keeping even though she was suffering with a very heavy cold, and really shouldn't have played! Alice for another tough and great display of defending. Emily who really got involved at the back and put some great tackles in and clearances.
